I used the Citrus Twist June Summer Boardwalk kit to make this 8.5x11 kit. The picture in the layout was taken from inside the school bus as the sun was rising. I used Instagram to take the picture on my iPhone. For the photo developing, I used Printstagram and was very impressed. It does take a little while to receive them (package was from Taiwan) but the quality of the photo and paper it was printed on, was superb!
It's been a while. I've been busy reading, doing some scrapbooking and getting my boys back to school. I can't believe they are in 2nd and 6th grades.

On the scrapbooking front, I've been working along on my Project Life album. I enjoy being able to save receipts, tags, school work, etc. I am very excited about the new Childhood editions Becky Higgins will be releasing this fall. I am by no means caught up but I love how easy it has made scrapbooking.

In addition to Project Life, I have ordered a few kits. I ordered one month from Studio Calico (I have the Elmwood Park kit). I then started investigating kit clubs and found Citrus Twist and Gossamer Blue. I decided to give them a 6 month try to get me in the mood to make some layouts. I am really enjoying work with kits. I even signed up for a class at Big Picture Classes called Kit-tastic. I will be sharing some layouts I've done in the coming week/s!

In the meantime, how about a project? I was also inspired by Mish's custom notebooks that she picked up at Target and decorated. Here is my take...

I have read several books so far this summer. Yes, I did read the ever popular Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy. And though, it's not a literary masterpiece, it is entertaining. I read through all three books within a couple of weeks. I have been enjoying Mary Higgins Clark's novels and have a few on my library hold list. They are easy reads and I love trying to figure out 'who did it'. I also read the classic Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers - amazing! I highly recommend it, you can find it here.

Please let me know what you have been reading. I would love some new titles.Stacy Simpsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16511574770045533883noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5872603536885511285.post-47883274683832283142012-02-05T17:34:00.000-06:002012-02-05T17:34:24.181-06:00Papertrey Ink 5th AnniversaryI made a card AND am posting on my blog. There must be some kind of motivation. And there is, PTI is giving away a HUGE prize! Read all about it here.
I chose Betsy Veldman's card. She is absolutely amazing. Everything she does is creative magic. If I need to make a card in a hurry I always visit her blog for inspiration.
I follow Ali Edward's blog religiously this time of year. I've also purchased Shimelle's Journal Your Christmas in the past (LOVE that once you purchase it you get it every year after for FREE). In 2009, I set up the pages using up a Creative Memories album and kit I had purchased in the past (man, I LOVE using up old product). It was completed fairly quickly after Christmas (may have had something to do with having foot surgery - I had PLENTY of time to work on crafty stuff). My 2010 album is um, well, currently on my desk. I am determined to get it complete this week.

So, here we are at 2011. I can't even decide what album to use. What size, manufacturer, 3ring binder or punch holes for jump rings?! I saw Ali had a kit for sale at Studio Calico (now sold out) but it was a bit pricey for my budget. I've consided Amy Tangerine's mini book and Pink Paislee's wood album. I just don't know. One thing is for sure, I am running out of room to store albums. As for papers and embellies, I want to use up what I already have.

I have created a board on pinterest called December Daily Ideas to help inspire me. I sure hope it inspires me soon! So, blogland, I am asking for your help. Are you creating a December Daily album? What are you using for an album this year? If you have made more than one December Daily type album, how do you store/display them? Please share your ideas. Stacy Simpsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16511574770045533883noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5872603536885511285.post-73203861151871634932011-08-07T16:18:00.002-05:002011-08-07T17:53:45.583-05:00ROAD TRIP mini albumThe poor blog has been so neglected. My plan is to pay more attention to it this fall.

Thought you might enjoy some pictures of our ROAD TRIP album I made. I downloaded Ali Edward's mini class called Scrapbook On The Road. At $14 US, I highly recommend it. I actually created a lot of the album before I left and took an Iris bin with me to store supplies. I did a lot of the journaling on the road while the memories were fresh. This is the first time I have ever scrapbooked like this and I LOVE the results.
I plan to make a couple of scrapbook pages about the trip and call it done. I think I captured enough info in this little album. Also, some photos went in to my Project Life album. I wish I could remember all the different products I used for this. I know I used some Papertrey ink paper and their stamp set Road Trip, I also used Technique Tuesday's Are We There Yet by Ali Edwards. I used rubons, spray mists, tags, thickers, Tim Holz tapes, stickers - lots of stuff I had laying around. I believe the front, back and several pages were from Scenic Route. It feels good to use up supplies!

Well, I hope you enjoyed my little album and it inspires you to create something today!
I loved Shelter Me by Juliette Fay. It makes you laugh, cry, think and grateful for your life. I am on a wait list at the library for her latest book Deep Down True.
I loved how she embossed the card stock and then went over it with white ink. I used a paper towel dabbed in SU whisper white (craft) to brush over my embossed numbers. I was inspired by these Valentine kits at Paper Source.

I have been a bad blogger - sorry! I made these a couple of weeks ago and forgot all the Cricut cartridges I used to make them. I know I used paper doll dress up for the hats and one of the mustaches.

Hope you have a HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!Stacy Simpsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16511574770045533883noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5872603536885511285.post-4374318428945078952011-01-28T08:00:00.013-06:002011-01-28T08:00:03.822-06:00FOCUS fridayI am participating in Ali Edwards One Little Word class over at Big Picture. My word for the year is FOCUS. I talked about it in this post. I thought I would share a pic of the project.

I am using a Lime 8.5x11 We R Memory Keepers album for the project. I love the color of this album. I found some My Minds Eye pattern paper at my local scrapbook store for .20 a piece! I think it goes with the album perfectly. Of course I had to add a couple of butterflies (compliments of a Martha Stewart punch).

Reading and getting healthy are on my list of things to focus on this year. I admit the getting healthy thing is a struggle. I am reading a wonderful book right now called Made To Crave by Lysa TerKeurst (so I am reading about getting healthy!) I am hoping this will help me discover some things about my over eating. I really like it so far. I will try to remember to write a review when I am done.

Hope you have a GREAT weekend!
Stacy Simpsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16511574770045533883noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5872603536885511285.post-11463384637213854612011-01-27T08:00:00.002-06:002011-01-27T08:00:03.906-06:00Thursday ChirpI thought I would make Thursdays my Cricut day, hence the name Thursday Chirp. I want to push myself to use it more. I've been surfing and finding some amazing projects. I think there is a bit of a learning curve - some cartridges are pretty complicated for my pea brain. My goal is to use it regularly and LEARN! (That would be part of my OLW: FOCUS goals).

I broke out my Wild Card cartridge, watched several you tube videos and made this little Valentine with matching envelope. I used Core'dinations cardstock that was recommended by several Cricut users. I was very excited to use the cardstock - I've had it for awhile - got it at Hobby Lobby 50% off!
Nicole issued a challenge to use a stamp set that either hasn't been inked up or hasn't been used in a while. I decided to get out my Signature Series: Dress Form and matching die. Here is what I came up with...
Long time no blog! Splitcoaststampers has a CAS challenge every Monday and this week it is to use flourishes. I just happen to have a card that I made recently with a flourish! I plan to refocus and start creating this weekend.

My 92 year old grandmother passed away just after midnight Monday night. The funeral was today. She lived an amazing life with my grandfather (who passed in 1999). They traveled the world. I remember their trips would be for a month at a time. I remember them bringing me souvenirs from all over the world; a purse from Africa, pajamas from China, etc. I remember going to their house to view slides (this was the 70s and 80s) on a projector, of all the amazing and fantastic places they had been. I remember staring at a majestic photo of the Great Wall of China that hung in their home. It was something like this...

What an amazing life. Both her and my grandpa were from small towns in Kansas. Growing up, I bet they never imagined where life would take them. She was generous, kind, and loving. I am blessed to have known her, let alone be her granddaughter.

Time really does go faster the older you get.

In 2011, my first born will be ten (that's a decade folks). My baby will be six. My husband will celebrate his fortieth birthday. And I will have my twentieth high school reunion. Crazy stuff!

Since I am getting older and time is flying by, I have decided to participate in Ali Edward's One Little Word challenge. I have chosen the word FOCUS. I have been reading and rereading The Happiness Project. It has inspired me to focus on certain areas of my life. I need to focus on completing a number of projects. I need to focus on my health; weight loss being priority one. I need to focus on God and reading His word. I need to focus on simplifying and organizing. I need to focus on learning new skills (photography, digital scrapbooking, photo editing). I need to focus on being a better parent, better wife, better daughter and better friend. And I need to focus on this ole' blog!

What are your plans/resolutions for 2011? Do you have One Little Word?

I hope you have a safe and Happy New Year's Eve.

Here's to a healthy and prosperous 2011!

Thank You Shutterfly!
Stacy Simpsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16511574770045533883noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5872603536885511285.post-69121024817728577112010-12-28T22:21:00.002-06:002010-12-28T22:50:11.290-06:00Happy AnniversaryI"m baaaaaack! Did you have a good Christmas? We sure did. We went to a beautiful candlelight service at our church on Christmas Eve. Two ladies at our church can sing like no body's business. I could listen to them all day. At the end of service the whole congregation stands, with our candles lit, and we sing Silent Night. I doubt there was a dry eye in the place. I get goosebumps thinking about it. After church we went to my Mom and Dad's, ate lots of food and opened lots of presents. Then we repeated that on Christmas Day. Santa was very generous!

Ok, how about a card?!

My parents wedding anniversary is in less than two weeks so I made a card for them. I decided to use a new file from The Cutting Cafe called This Cake is All Heart (this is a BRAND NEW file and will be released soon) to make this cake-shaped card.
